5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, June 12, 2011
This review is from: Coleman Sundome 2-Person Tent (Green, 7-Feet X 5-Feet) (Sports)
Im not an avid "camper" and until yesterday never owned a camping tent. I been scouring amazon and youtube for tents and than headed out to dicks sporting good and picked this up to go camping with my daughter and sister over the july 4th weekend comming up. The tent was much cheaper than listed here on amazon so I picked up 2 just for a spare.

Couldn't wait so I grabbed my wife and we set this up in the backyard. After eyeballing the directions, according to my watch, we put it together in 19 mins and neither of us ever set up a camping tent before, Came with 10 metal stakes, we used four.

Me and my daughter (she is 4) slept out overnight Im 6ft and I can fit okey with about a half foot extra leg room. Its been hot and humid the past few days and as a bonus, A few hours after setting up, it got windy than started raining. So I was real happy to test this out. The inside stayed perfectly dry throughout the night. Wind did pick up a little. Not a... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Good tent BUT...., June 11, 2012

I purchased this tent in April 2011 and used it on 4 camping trips that year. I was very happy with the tent. Easy to set-up and kept me dry during heavy rains. However, in May of 2012, I went camping for the first time. After arriving at the campsite, I found out that one of the tent poles was in 9 pieces...the internal elastic cord had broken during the winter storage! Luckily I was able to repair the pole with paracord and the weekend was not lost. But be warned, these tent poles are made with cheap elastic cords. In fact they are 5 strands of THIN rubber bands with a nylon cord cover. Once the nylon cover frays (and it will because the poles fold up for storage) the rubber bands WILL break. So it's safe to say my happiness with the tent has turned to disappointment. If you buy this tent, have a tent pole repair kit handy or bring extra cordage, just in case!

5.0 out of 5 stars great value - not the ultimate backpacking tent, January 27, 2012

Sometimes good is better than perfect! I needed a cheap, easy to set up without stakes car camping tent. I have expedition tents and backpacking tents that are far more expensive, but they would not work any better for short overnights so why wear them out?

The oddest thing about this tent is the little zipper by the front door... designed to let you thread an extension cord into the tent! So it's targeted for back-yard campers and it does that job extremely well.

It's heavy but the poles are sturdy and the floor is the same durable material you buy as blue poly tarps. The rain fly has nice eaves that keep the rain out even if you have the door unzipped for ventillation. I wouldn't bet on the fly remaining attached in a strong wind, but when that happens you'll probably roll up your extension cord and go inside!
